We had the good fortune of connecting with Mikey Everything and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mikey, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would have to say the most important factor behind the success of my brand is hard work and staying true to myself. In an industry where everyone is attaching themselves to the next “big thing’ it’s easy follow trends and lose yourself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Mikey Everything and I am a LGBTQ Performing Artist. I consider myself a lyricist and a REAL FAN of good music. I can’t really say that there are any male Rappers who are doing what it is that I do. I combine good rhymes, dope beats and even doper visuals to with top notch choreography. I give my heart and soul every time my lips touch the mic. I’ve been consistently doing music since 2015 and while it hasn’t been easy I wouldn’t change it for anything. I’ve lost both of my parents and the love of my life all while trying to make a name for myself. Fighting against grief and anxiety have been 2 of the biggest struggles of my entire life. Through, meditation, manifestation and serial optimism I have been able to embark on the journey to healing. Today, I can say that I am on my way there and there is nothing and no one that will stop me. I have learned that when you naturally attract attention without even trying, you have to be careful . That kind of magnetism also attracts an incredible amount of jealousy. I have had the unfortunate experience of having someone attempt to ruin me because of jealousy and envy. Because of that, I keep my circle small and always keep my eyes open for a snake in the grass. It may sound like a horrible way to live but that’s the price I have to pay to get to where I am destined to go. Much is required and I’m not afraid to give it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So, I am a foodie. Like a huge one. So if my bestie comes to town we’re going to get Puerto Rican food from the new El Jabaritos in Lincoln Park. Then hitting up Hyde Park for Rum Punches and Jerk Chicken at Ja Grill. For nightlife we will start in Hyde Park once again at the Promontory for their always awesome 90’s party, then head to Boystown for a little Scarlet and Progress Bar.

Chicago is such a hidden treasure, everyone that visits is always AMAZED by the fact that we have a huge body of water here. My city IS NOT the Chiraq that you often see publicized in the media. It’s a city rich with culture and diversity and honestly one of the best cities in the world if you ask me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my Father. Unfortunately in 2018 he passed away, but now more than ever I think about all of the things that he taught me. My father was a hard working man who provided for his family at any cost. He was intelligent, disciplined. Often times to a fault He instilled a work ethic in me that allows me to have the duality of working as a full time Extras Casting Director and a full time independent recording artists. Often times people are amazed at how i’m able to do both and I owe all it to him.
