We had the good fortune of connecting with Mikey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mikey, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of The Westleaf brand is consistency. For the past two years we’ve posted in house content covering musicians and popular culture figures daily on multiple platforms. The growth that we’ve seen from just showing up everyday is amazing. Consistency has taken our dream to the next level. It’s definitely a cheat code.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Westleaf was founded in 2020 as a digital publication from my apartment. We originally covered rappers, fashion designers, and popular culture figures via online articles and social media content on our website thewestleaf.com. In the first year we covered over 200 artists and creatives on our digital platform. In the second year we began to think about expansion to fulfill the need for our services. We subsequently acquired a content studio space where we conduct in studio interviews and provide a space for creatives to make whatever they want. At the moment we are a small publication but our reach is growing–our studio is growing as well! We’ve worked with artists and. creators from all over the globe to help make their dreams come true.

The biggest challenge that we faced while building the foundation of our company was staying focused when no one was around to cheer us on. In business and art things don’t happen everyday. It’s not as glamorous as the movies make it seem. Sometimes the days are long and the work is tedious but on those days it’s important for business owners. to remember why they started. My why is rooted in building a legacy for my family and a world that I want to live in filled with creative people and an abundance of resources. Things have been working out lately and I am definitely thankful.

I believe the future has many great things in store for our company!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m an art rat for sure. I’d probably start off with taking my friend to Atlanta Vegan Breakfast in the a.mm. and from there we’d museum hop during the afternoon. We’d hit The High Museum, Atlanta Contemporary, and the Museum of Design Atlanta. In the evening, we’d grab a light dinner at Soul Vegetarian before we headed to see a performance at the Atlanta Ballet. It would definitely be the best day ever!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother and father. My mother always inspired me to learn and do more. She also taught me that there are no limits in life. She is the first person to water my dreams and show me what it means to have faith. My father is a big dreamer and somewhat of a rebel. My entreprenurial drive and creative spirit comes from him.

Thanks rents!
