Meet Mikalyn Robinson | Cosmetologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mikalyn Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mikalyn, what role has risk played in your life or career?
How would I know what step to take next if I never got out of my comfort zone and took risks ? Without taking risks decision making for me would be hard . Going about my everyday life would be hard . Taking risk has showed me the Ins and Outs of what I should And shouldn’t do . It has put me in a position where because I took that risk I don’t have to make that same mistake again . It then becomes a learning experience. Doing so has helped me grow as a person and has also help me to operate and grow my business .

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The way I got to where I am today is #1 God , of course . Second , the communication skills I was Taught to use with my clients to gain a friendship and a understanding in all aspects . Three, consistent practice and when I went through tough times I had people in my circle to help uplift me and steer me in the right direction. Nothing in life will ever be easy . My journey sure wasn’t and still isn’t easy . What I used to get through challenging situations, is I remained calm and put all my faith in god, and because I did that god placed people in my life to keep me focused and humble. What I learned is nothing comes over night and when your goal is to be successful you can never skip the steps of life . Most importantly, no matter how close you get to achieving your goals it’s important to always remain the same and never change who you are , but always elevate . I want the world to know that you can truly become anything you want with hard work , determination, and god right next to you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my Bestfriend was visiting the area this is how the day would go. First, I’m the type of friend who likes to plan so I’d definitely plan a breakfast to go to in the morning before we start our day. Then we’d go thrifting I like to shop for a certain aesthetic and seeing as though this is my “ Bestfriend” we’re talking about I’m pretty sure she’d feel the same. Then we’d go to a fun amusement park or even a arcade and have the time of our lives . Then we’d go to a nice area with our cute outfits on to take nice pictures for memories. Before the day ends and we go to dinner we’d go to see a cool movie . To end the day off we’d go to a fun Korean restaurant . I’m not the type to want to do a lot , which I’m pretty sure that came off like a lot ; but that’s where I’d take them and that’s how I’d plan the week for my Bestfriend.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly , If I could , I’d shoutout everyone that has played a great part of my life; but of course that would be super long . My family has definitely been a great support system throughout this process . The ones who have my back till the end . The others I’d like to shout out is my Boyfriend @letsgonior and his mother . I’m shouting them out for the reason being that they’ve treated me as their own, supported me , and has helped me grow the same way my blood family has. My two best friends, Nyshirah & Jamari , who remind me always of my progress and my potential. A friend of mine , Micajah @Stylesbymicajah who took the time to help me enhance my craft without degrading the skills I already had . I’ve truthfully came across “genuine “ people in my life and have been nothing but grateful .
