We had the good fortune of connecting with Mika Morrow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mika, why did you pursue a creative career?
I believe that my career chose me honestly. I was always artistic and musically inclined as a child growing up and expressed myself as such in various ways. As I got older I still used my gifts when the opportunity presented itself (especially in church) but eventually me pursing my gifts fell secondary to raising my children. It was until God kept opening doors that were undeniably for me that I decided to walk through and wholeheartedly pursue my career so that I encourage others creatively and spiritually through my music.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe that what sets me apart from others is my willingness to be transparent. I hear a lot from others that my lyrics are relatable which let me know that my transparency helps in establishing a strong, genuine connection with my listeners. I am so thankful and proud of where God has brought me to spiritually and mentally right now. Was it easy? Absolutely not. There was a time when I was in an extremely dark place where I daily wallowed in my mistakes and brokenness. It wasn’t until I had hit rock bottom that I would fully comprehend Gods grace and love for me. I have learned that even though I had made some mistakes and strayed from the path my detour did not erase nor eradicate my destiny or the unique calling that God has placed over my life! I also learned that God is a promise keeper and most certainly will never give up on you. God favored me by opening doors for me and putting me in the hearts of people who would speak my mention my name in rooms Ive never even stepped in! This, accompanied with my hearts desire to minister to others eventually led me to become an independent national recording artist. Eventually my brand The M.O.V.E. Movement would also be birthed as I continued to pursue my musical career. M.O.V.E. stands for Motivating Others Visually Everyday which is what I strive to do to the best of my abilities. I believe that if you successfully conquer your mental then you can achieve anything that you set your mind to do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m on Maryland now so some of my most favorite spots to go to grab a bite are The R House which offer a variety of foods that are mouth watering

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There is absolutely no one more deserving of a shoutout than my husband Rick who is my “better half” as I call him! His leadership, support and unconditional love for me has played a major part in me becoming the woman that still has a strong voice but a more tender heart as well. I believe both are needed to convey and inspire Gods people with our gifts.
