We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Shepherd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The most important decision I ever made was to let myself be in the moment. Especially the happy ones. I bring myself back to the “now” when I start dreaming of the next step. The key is to hold on to it until the next phase reveals itself, listen to your inner creative and let it guide you.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
If I am being honest, this is the most natural relationship I have ever had. Making products, packaging, educating others on the benefits of all natural items is my purpose. Because I use everything I make, I get to test out items before I post them and will only release what I absolutely love. I listen to other business owners talk about how hard it is, and sometimes that business owner is myself, but we all say the same thing, we absolutely love it and I don’t see myself not enjoying this for a while. I want the world to know that everything you see on the cheabychel.com website has been made by me, with a 90’s r and b mix playing in the background and a little sage burning near by.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are definitely visiting Oaxaca Tacos in Lawrenceville at least 3 times Zumba Saturday morning at the gym (my good friend is the instructor)
Lunch and shopping at the Forum/Avenues
Live Music and burgers at 1910 Public House in Lilburn
Bonfire ATL or Roller skating at Cascade on Sunday night
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Outside of the obvious being my 3 beautiful daughters, I’d have to shout out my Family of Friends. They are literally my tribe and all want what is best for myself and my girls. Honorable mention to my Shih tzu Zoe, tacos and coffee.
