Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a caregiving coach, content generator, and community creator & facilitator, I love helping caregivers of all ages get connected to the resources and people they need. Caregiving is a tough experience, but it’s a universal one, and my business of helping caregivers is unique in that I serve the spectrum of caregivers, not just those caring for older adults/aging parents. As a special needs parent and a breast cancer survivor, I’ve seen caregiving from all sides and angles. My professional experience prior to healthcare-related freelance writing—and before starting Caregiving Advice to help caregivers like me—was in elder care, so I know the industry well.
The hardest part of launching and growing Caregiving Advice? Being a caregiver while doing it! Another challenge for me is the fact that I consider myself a creative AND a professional service provider. It’s a good problem to have, of course, but I struggle with bringing the two together in a way that makes sense to my audience. I also have a ton of interests and ideas on both the creative and entrepreneurial fronts—and a whole lot of drive—so I do struggle with focus at times.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love a good local independent bookstore, so that would be at the top of my list. I’d also take her to my favorite local breakfast spots, independent coffee shops and tea rooms, or restaurants with a unique menu or special kind of ambience. There’s a great resort nearby that has an amazing spa, so I’d take her there for a day of self-care and pampering. I also love getting outside in nature and appreciating architecture, so we’d take hikes or walks in beautiful parks and maybe visit towns in the area with distinctive buildings.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
