We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Rankin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When starting Tipsy-Trailer, the initial thought was that I wanted to be able to be my own boss and make my own schedule. I wanted to do something that I loved yet under my terms.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Nothing about starting a business is easy, especially in an industry that is full of incredible companies that offer the same services as we planned to offer. Being savvy in the ways of business, knowledge and experience in the industry, keeping up to date with the current trends in your service area and networking were all skills and actions that were valuable in our quest to to build a long-lasting company. In order to be successful in the bar service industry and to stand out in our field, we designed custom mobile bars that were unique and one of a kind, bars that stood out in the crowd and that would leave our clients and their guests talking about us and sharing their experience with others. We started joining networking and social media groups,a s well as many other local groups that allowed us to network our business and to share and promote our name. We attended mobile bartening conventions to learn the ways of the business and hone in our craft cocktail making skills, something we suggest anyone in the business to do! Overall, we created a bartending business that allows clients to elevate their entire bar exerience at that events. Custom mobile bar, craft cocktails, trained and educated staff, the newest trend of a champagne wall and even dabbling in eclectic bar furniture rentals.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Seattle and the surrounding area is FULL of fun and exciting places to visit, we do have some favorites though. Visiting Alki Beach or the Queen Anne area for a drink at Some Random Bar (yes that is the name), we love to try new and different places. Finding the newest Snohomish speakeasy on the top floor of the old Oxford Saloon or getting reservations at our favorite local restaraunt, the Repp, is where you will find us when company comes to town.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We truly have an entire tribe behind our success, we could not be where we are without them. Danica with Green Door Sound Bath, her networking gatherings and her constant support of our company has been invaluable to us. Seattle Bride Magazine, Snohomish Wedding Guild and many other of our amazing friendors who continue to support and share our business throughout the community are also to be given credit for the success of Tipsy-Trailer.
