We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, how does your business help the community?
I always say if your business does not answer your community’s needs then you won’t be in business long! My business helps those recently incarcerated get back on their feet by getting a cdl. We prepare our students for success after incarceration! This is important to me because my son spent 7 and 1/2 years behind the wall and I saw first hand the need for rehabilitation.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets 3 Rivers apart from other trucking schools is our diversity. First we are owned by a woman a minority woman. Second we serve a hidden community. And 3rd we really are passionate about our ability to change people’s lives.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start off by taking them to my favorite breakfast spot ATL breakfast club Then I would take to the market on Ponce I just love the vibe in that place.
Then I would take them to Savannah because I really love the history and culture of savannah
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out Rahmel from truck n hustle podcast first for interviewing my husband and I to let the world know we were the first black cdl school geared to ex felons Then I need to thank my husband for allowing me to follow my heart on this business
And then to all my supporters and colleagues thank you
