We had the good fortune of connecting with Micheline Amisi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Micheline, how do you think about risk?
I used to consider myself risk-averse because I lived for certainty. However, as of late, I have been the biggest advocate for risk taking. A lot of this began when I finished reading 10X. The book essentially preached on the topic of doing everything all out. This mentality comes with its share of risks. In my career, I have learned that playing it safe will simply not get me where I need to be. I have been faced with career-altering decisions and most of them included me taking on a major risk. While I still critically analyze every decision that I make, I am more welcoming of the road less taken and the path that seems riskier.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I went to school for business and have always loved the qualitative aspect of business. I would say that I was BORN with an entrepreneurial spirit and have seen this manifest in a lot of my professional adventures. I kicked off my professional career as a business process improvement consultant at a big 4. This experience was the absolutely best way for me to start my career in that I feel like I was able to get four years worth of experience in a year and a half. Additionally, the skills that I acquired in that time were unbelievably important and transferable. I was able to make the transition to my current role as a project manager seamlessly. I have also gotten to a point where my job and personal passions are able to coexist in a healthy way. While I may often argue that there are *not* enough hours in the day, I am in a place with my personal passion projects where I find and make time to truly pursue those things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Owwww this is a good question! First of all we would BRUNCH..as much as we could because the girls love brunch. My ideal time with my bestie would start with brunch. A few of my favorite spots are 10th and Piedmont, Fin & Feathers and BQE. Then we could hit some cute locations for pictures because the girls also love content. Some of my favorite locations for that are Ponce Rooftop and Chateau Elan Winery. Lastly we would close the day out with some fun and games at painted duck.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shout out to Lydia —my mommy. She is grace, class and grit personified. Growing up, I always adored my mom and her ability to make gold out of the smallest and seemingly insignificant things. As I’ve matured into an adult, that admiration only grew stronger because I am able to connect meaning to her actions and that woman is indeed superwoman. While she never gets the spotlight or the credit, I would not be who I am today, had it not been for her steady and consistent love and direction.
