We had the good fortune of connecting with Michaella Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Michaella, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My ideal end goal is to inspire those around me to follow their passions that bring them the most inner peace. I would love to be able to teach people how to tap into their creative abilities as a way to alleviate stress and anxiety. Professionally, I aspire to own an art gallery in a popular city (Atlanta, Miami, New York, Los Angeles) for local and young artists to have an opportunity to display their artwork. To give small and upcoming artists a voice, to be seen and heard in all creative forms.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what sets me apart is my choice of media. I use charcoal which isn’t as popular as acrylic and oil paint. I am most proud of being apart of my first art show in Atlanta – A Spectacular Black Girl Art Show. I am excited to be featured in two more upcoming art shows in Atlanta in 2022. I am blessed enough to be where I am due to the long hours put into perfecting my craft and stepping out of my comfort zone. It definitely was not easy, but the reward of a complete art piece makes it worth it. I definitely learned that in order to be successful, it is a mind over matter type of situation. You can never lose sight of the end goal. As long as you are making strides everyday to achieve your goals, you are making progress. I want the world to know that everything you see in the future produced by EverSoDope Art was created and inspired by faith. All it takes is the faith of a mustard seed.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Considering I just moved back to Atlanta, I am still figuring out the area. I definitely know a few of my favorite restaurants would be Pho 24, South City Kitchen, and Velvet Taco. I would definitely take them to explore the Atlantic Station area for good eats and fun activities. Also, the High Museum of Art is a MUST.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people that deserve recognition for where I am in life. I first want to give thanks and all glory to God for allowing me to be in the position I am in. Also, to my parents for being my biggest support system throughout my journey. All of my family and friends that support me on social media. They’ve allowed me to reach the magnitude of people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and all of the opportunities that have become available. All of the encouraging words, reposts, likes, comments never go unnoticed.
