We had the good fortune of connecting with Micha’ela Monique and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Micha’ela, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I invented my business concept while in the cubicle of a 9-5 Job that was draining me.. emotionally, physically, and mentally. I was 21 at the time, the youngest in the office, and all I could see were people older than me who weren’t living the life they wanted, were underpaid and overworked, and I decided that wasn’t going to be me. Most of my coworkers lived paycheck to paycheck and felt stuck; drowning in debt and couldn’t pursue their dreams because of their financial burdens. I recognized the connection between financial freedom and happiness.

After discovering the concept of entrepreneurship, while on the job, I would put my headphones in and listen to podcasts and audiobooks about business, finance, and success! This fueled me for scariest decision I’ve made thus far. I quit that job without a PLAN. All I had was a dream..

The first night I had no idea the details of my business but that I wanted to start one. Every bit of advice I could find was to choose something you are passionate about and undeniably great at..

I then decided.. Adulting & Personal Finance.. and Live Life Millennials was born.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Today I am a Coach, Speaker, Author, and Creative but this took many years in development.

How did I get here?: By taking opportunities as they came. Applying before I thought I was “qualified” and remembering that closed mouths don’t get fed. Sharing your journey with others is so powerful.

Was it easy? Of course not! There were plenty of nights I wanted to quit and run back to my old life. (the easy route). away from social media, away from the cameras and just hide. But I remember when I was taking my first big leap into living on my own I so badly wished I had a mentor. So I remember to be that for my audience.

I want Millennials & Gen-Z to know that living responsibly and having your sh*t together doesn’t have to be so hard. Paying bills on time, having excellent credit, and living in luxury as a young adult is very attainable with planning, discipline, and consistency.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hey bestieeeee welcome to the city!

I live in the Houston area so I would take them to my favorite “hangout spots” which are: The Woodlands Waterway, City Centre, and Townelake Boardwalk.

Food wise? Oh we’re gonna have a ball. I love Cajun food so I’m taking them for crawfish, boiled seafood, daiquiris, and all the spices. Lotus Seafood. Pappadeaux.

If there’s a festival in town, even better we can do that too! Be out and meet new people.. just enjoy living again!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ahem.. the real MVPs I want to recognize here are actually my two loving parents.

I grew up as an only child and watched my parents make sacrifices to give me the best life possible. We started at the bottom in a not-so-favorable neighborhood in New Orleans; so the odds were already against them.

I had the pleasure of front-row-tickets to watch them use determination, hard-work, and strategy to become very successful over the years. I look at them in awe now because they really “beat the odds and remained humble”.

I have no shame in admitting that the basis of my character really came from the morals they instilled in me about being responsible, independent, and financially smart. Shout out to Mom & Pops lol!
