We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Tran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It’s very scary when starting your own business. There are so many risks and doubts that comes with it. You question yourself. People you know question you. But, in the end, it’s all about taking a risk and believing in yourself that you can do it. It’s a leap of faith. Of course it helps to do your research and have experience in the industry, too.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Sweet Spot Bakery specializes in unique flavors of cupcakes and cakes. We have over 25+ flavors and counting. I am a trained French-cuisine chef with a background in classical and modern French cuisine. After graduating from culinary school, my interest veered towards the pastry side after additional classes and working in that field. I started experimenting with different flavors and recipes and always envisioned opening my own bakery one day. That dream became a reality after extensive research and support from family and friends.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Atlanta is very entertaining and there is always something to do. Popular tourist places such as The Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta Zoo, and World of Coca-Cola are always fun and family-friendly. My family and I love visiting the parks and fishing on Lake Lanier. Gwinnett County, where our bakery is located, is very diverse. My family and I love dining out and supporting local businesses.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to my wife and my family for supporting me throughout this adventure of mine.
