We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Stuart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In 2008, I was let go from a radio station that was cleaning house for an upcoming sale. After 24 years in the business at 6 different stations across the country, I was determined to take my fate out of the hands of 1 or 2 people. I was doing voice over work on the side for a few companies here and there so when I found myself unemployed from my main gig, I knew I had to make a change. After some prayers, I started Michael Stuart Productions and went fulltime working on that. I added in emcee work and in 2010, I signed with Houghton Talent in Atlanta for acting work. It’s been 16 years of working more, but so glad I did it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My voice over production company involves not just my voice but almost fifty other available voices that I work with to bring clients a variety of choices. My clients include radio stations, TV stations, and agencies across the country. For on-screen acting, I’ve been in commercials, TV shows, movies, short films, and more. It’s taken many years to get where I am today and it hasn’t always been easy. Just like anything in life there will always be ups and downs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live just South of Atlanta in Sharpsburg, GA. I spent 13 years in Senoia so when friends come to visit, we start there, and I show them where The Walking Dead was filmed, as well as many other movies and TV shows. We’d probably get a bite at Senoia Coffee, owned by my friends Brent and April Anderson. Next we’d head to Peachtree City for a golf cart ride around the area. Over 90 miles of man-made golf cart paths! We’d definitely stop for coffee and a treat at Blume Organics Boutique & Café. Depending on my guests, I’d try to talk them into disc golf or pickleball on my church campus, One Church. We’d definitely take a trip over to Trilith and show them where I record one of my podcasts for The Eden Project. There’s a lot of great places for dinner around this area but if brisket is top of the mind… that means Jim N Nick’s in Sharpsburg.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Jesus always gets the first credit! A big thank you to the lady who gave me my first job in radio, Leslie Framm, who is now the senior vice president of music strategy for Country Music Television (CMT). Mystie Buice, owner of Houghton Talent in Atlanta, and Deborah Owensby (Retired) for signing me. My sweet wife Kari for putting up with all that I do. One Church in Fayetteville and a host of friends who support me emotionally and physically in my many endeavors!
