We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Rudolph Cummings and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael Rudolph, why did you pursue a creative career?
Music and art, singing in particular, are the only things that ever felt completely natural to me I could not imagine a point in my life where I didn’t have music as a giant factor in everything I do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been playing music for as long as I can remember. Making records and touring the world since I was 18 years old. NONE of it was or is easy but it is worth it to e to make sacrifices in other aspects of life to fulfill the creative process. I will never be wealthy, I don’t have fancy things or a wild plan for my retirement, but I live every single day to its fullest extent. To me that’s success. I’m winning as long as i keep moving forward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
100% we are getting food at El Myr or El Myriachi. Then heading to 529 or The Earl for a show. Dance party at Mary’s would probably go down as well, depending on how the night goes.

If they are from way out of town and are going to be around for a few days, we are getting loud at The Claremont. Because sometimes you just gotta!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been fortunate to grow alongside some of the most amazing musicians and writers of our generation. A few of them from right there in Atlanta. I’m not sure I would be doing what I do to the extent that I’m doing it without their guidance and lifting me up along the way. My friends in Royal Thunder never let me slide too far down when I start slipping. They are lifers just like me. Art for the sake of art.
