We had the good fortune of connecting with Micaela Pamplin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Micaela, what do you want people to remember about you?
As a pharmacist and business owner, I want my customers and patients to remember me as someone who cared about them and their health. I value each person who walks through my doors, I remember their name, and I build a connection so that they can trust me. This type of legacy embodies what a true family pharmacy should feel like to a customer or patient. And as a bonus, I am typically known as the pharmacist who can save them money too.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At North Georgia Specialty Pharmacy, we focus on access to affordable medications, customized medications, and overall health and wellness. I am proud to be one of the first pharmacies in the state of Georgia to offer a modern, “cash pharmacy”, meaning we skip the insurance and coupons and provide a fair price to all of our patients on prescription, over-the-counter, and compounded medications. This transparency pairs with being a trustworthy pharmacy, a place where you can expect the team to care about you and your health. And we do not limit this service to just our town, we offer free delivery and shipping anywhere in Georgia.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So we live in the Dahlonega area, about an hour north of Atlanta, where you can enjoy everything wonderful about North Georgia. Dahlonega is where I grew up and visiting the Dahlonega Square is a must. So many neat shopping boutiques, like Humble Candle, Humble Abode, Cranberry Corners, and Dress Up. There are lots of local places to eat. For breakfast, Picnic Cafe and Foothill Grill. For lunch, Picnic Cafe, Chastain Southern Catering and Cafe, and Spirits Tavern. For dinner, Gustavo’s, Bourbon Street Grille, and Shenanigans. For dessert, The Fudge Factory, Paul Thomas Chocolates, and Connie’s Ice Cream. Then the Dahlonega Plateau offers many amazing wineries to visit with not only delicious wines, but amazing views. All wonderful to spend an afternoon, or a few afternoons. And then to round it out, there are many places to enjoy the great outdoors. We like to venture over to Yahoola Creek Park, Amicalola Falls State Park, and the Amicalola Creek Trail for a nice hike. I promise, you can enjoy a short or long trip to Dahlonega and North Georgia. And don’t forget to stop by the pharmacy while you are in town too. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story would not be possible without my family, specifically my parents and my husband. My Mom was so inspiring growing up and always pushed me to follow my goals and reach for the stars in my career. My Dad taught me that I could do anything that I set my mind to. And my husband, Steven, has been my biggest supporter and fan since college. You could say they helped me survive many, many years of school for me to become a pharmacist and the transition to a pharmacy owner.
From a professional standpoint, so many incredible pharmacists and pharmacy technicians throughout my time in Kentucky, Kansas, and Georgia that have grown my passion for the pharmacy profession and helping people. Many previous mentors and co-workers are still friends today, serving as a great support system as I continue through my career.
