Meet Mia Glass | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mia Glass and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In 2016, I was diagnosed with PCOS and one of the first things that changed on my body was my skin. I began to experience dark spots, hyperpigmentation and even eczema all due to this new condition.
Fast forward to 2018 and I began using bleaching cream to deal with said skin conditions. My friend told me it was horrible for my skin actually. So I began doing research and came across turmeric to naturally clear my skin.
I created a turmeric face mask and began using it to deal with my skin. Within a few days, I saw major results. My family began to inquire about my skin and what I was using. Then I started posting about it. I made my first $50 in an hour.
4 years later, we are still here
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Getting to 4 years of business has definitely not been easy. To survive through an entire pandemic was rough. Losing family and friends left and right. To business slowing completely down and now a recession. Mjay has stood and will continue to. One thing I’ve learned is that you must remain consistent. Even when it’s hard. That’s something I’m proud of. That even when I could have quit, I didn’t.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well most of my friends are from here lol but I would take my friend to downtown Oak Park. We would go shopping, to Le Petit Cafe, an amazing restaurant. Then the movie theater.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
From day 1, my husband has believed in my business. His belief in me never wavered. He would speak life into my business and always remind me that I have amazing products.
