We had the good fortune of connecting with Mesha Berry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mesha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When thinking about risk taking, it can be a very scary thing. My approach to risk taking is I will never know the outcome unless I take the risk. For myself taking a risks has played a major role in my life and career. In March of 2017 I moved from Hampton, Virginia to Georgia in hopes to get back into school and start my own business. I had never been to Georgia and I did not have family or friends in Georgia. I planned this move for over a year before I actually made it to Georgia. This move by far was the biggest risk I have ever taken. I am so happy that I did not back out and I continued to stick to my plan. Shortly after moving I was promoted into management at my corporate job as well as enrolled into Wesleyan College to pursue Business. In September 2020, it was finally time to launch my business as an event planner with Picnic Perfections.
What should our readers know about your business?
Picnic Perfections & Co is a Luxury Picnic Business and we also plan bigger events and provide home design as well. With Picnic Perfections, your next occasion will be one to remember. We use creativity with Interior Design and Event Planning to make your special day turn out exactly how you want it. Whether you’re planning an Anniversary, Birthday, or Just Because, We will make sure every detail is taken care of! We have different theme picnics such as (Boho, Girly Chic, Romantic, & more) and we also have different picnic packages to choose from. We service areas from Atlanta, Stone Mountain, McDonough, Macon, and Warner Robins. Our setups are located in parks such as (Piedmont Park, Stone Mountain Park, Big Springs Park, Amerson River Park, & more), and we setup in residences, hotels and Airbnb. We also partner with other small businesses to provide picnic add-ons that include (roses, catering, private chef, sweet treats, & photography). I promote my business on all my social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Tik Tok, Twitter) and from that I get a lot of exposure from people sharing my info as well as I do at lot of networking when I am setting up in parks. I was definitely nervous launching a business during a pandemic I didn’t know how it would do but I am so grateful I did. I am still learning day by day ways to improve my business, right now the biggest challenge has been doing this all on my own. am currently hiring because I have realized I definitely need help with how fast things are growing.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta is full of great places and things to do!! The first stop I would take my best friend is to eat at Milk & Honey for a nice brunch. Our next stop would be the Selfie Museum for a cute photo op. The next day I would do a cute picnic at Piedmont Park and then ride the scooters on the Atlanta Beltline. We are both big on self care so during the week I would take her to Treat Your Feet for the best massages and then do dinner at The Garden Room. For a little adventure we would go to iFly for indoor skydiving or hike up Stone Mountain. And I would end the trip with a girls day to Chateau Elan for wine tasting.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to first shoutout and thank Tiberious Turner who recommended me for this interview and he has also been a wonderful partner to work with providing beautiful floral arrangements for my picnic business. I also want to thank my best friend Crystal Randall for `always encouraging and supporting my dreams and ideas. And last but certainly not least I want to thank everyone who as supported me whether it was customers, family and friends sharing my business information and all my partners. I am truly grateful!
