Meet Mercedes Cherelle | Master Cosmetologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mercedes Cherelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mercedes, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I am a product of a teenage mother who didn’t understand how to raise a child because she was still a child. So when it came to educating me it wasn’t done properly. As a child I remember her allowing me to express my creative side and gave me the tools that I needed to run with it. So with that being said I chose a creative career because it’s my passion.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a master cosmetologist specializing and healthy, natural hair, and promoting self love. My creative side comes into play when I do my hair show once a year called Saecher Natural Hair Health and beauty Expo. Once a year I do a hair show using women of all different shapes and sizes teaching and promoting self-love. The purpose of the event is to draw the crowd in using my creative side with Caribbean carnival theme models Styled by myself. Once the crowd is drawn into the venue I promote and support local business. I believe that if we support and build local business we can build the community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Because I live in Stone Mountain and I like the small town feel. If my friends and family came into town I would take them to visit the Stone Mountain, Stone Mountain village where they offer local coffee shops local restaurants local wine shops and local shopping.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout out to my family, friends, and my biggest supporters. They keep me focused and they let me know when I’m slacking and not living my full potential. My motivation comes from them and my children. When my children come to me and lets me know that they are proud of me and they see all of the hard work that I’m putting in, it reminds me of what my purpose is. I would also like to give a shout out to my hometown Rockford Illinois for pushing me to see my full potential
