Meet Melissa Mor | Founder, Mrs. Push- an online Push Present destination

We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Mor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Push presents are something that I became passionate about once I had kids. About 8 years ago when my oldest was born, I was on the quest to find the perfect push present. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but knew it had to be extra special considering this was a life changing event. My husband got even more overwhelmed. I grew up commemorating special events with fine jewelry. I can tell you every piece of jewelry I have and when I received & for what occasion. Fast forward to baby number 3 & I had that “aha” moment. There was no jeweler/shop specifically focused on push presents. I created a space to shop for all the most meaningful “mom jewelry.” Pieces that will last a lifetime and can be passed down for generations like the ones I have in my jewelry box.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Let’s start with what a Push Present is. It is a gift given (traditionally jewelry) to a new mom or parent to commemorate the birth of a new baby. When a baby is born, everything is about the baby. But what about the mom? This piece of jewelry is something she’ll always look back on and remember this special time. We look to jewelry to symbolize an engagement, a marriage, now let’s normalize the push present! I have a fashion background so shifting gears into jewelry has been different yet the same. And I’m learning so much daily. It hasn’t been an easy road but most good things don’t come easy. I am overcoming challenges everyday & coming out the other side.
I want the world to know that every mom deserves a Push Present no matter how her baby is born.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a. mom of 3 little kids, I don’t get out that much but hmm let’s see…. I would go to Buckhead Village for some shopping & people watching. I’m a fashion girl so just to see what everyones wearing and buying is fascinating to me.
I’d take them for coffee (or in my case matcha) to The Chastain or TBB122 in Alpharetta. A new adorable coffee shop that doesn’t use any seed oils. I’m a bit of a health nut so this is super important to me.
A Braves game is always a good time, as is just hanging out at The Battery, the surrounding area. A lively place with a fun nightlife.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom definitely instilled this mindset of always buy fine jewelry because it lasts a lifetime (&more) – so this shout out is to her because this thought process got me to where I am today & helped me create my business.
