We had the good fortune of connecting with Melinda Santiago and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melinda, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Building Wealth and changing my mindset and really learning about economics and the IMPORTANCE of it

What should our readers know about your business?
Well, I self taught myself on my business . I figured things out and made it work. Committed myself to being successful. Made myself the asset.. I then was able to align myself with Leon Cosby iii who took the biz up a notch with proper structure. Showed me the value of ownership. I would always do for others before myself and yes, most took advantage of it. Not their fault tho as it’s human behavior. It takes a strong person to always walk with integrity no matter what is thrown at them to NOT take short cuts or hurt people along the way. So I was able to build more businesses under the SANTIAGO FIRM umbrella. Ie: S Firm Publishing / Santiago Productions . My brand is built on INTEGRITY. I work with everyone I can because I want to see everyone win. #GodBlessesGoodBusiness I don’t chase checks. I don’t go after bad money. It has to be a WIN WIN or No deal situation. In an industry that dominates in a lack of honesty – I stand out. People may not like me because I fight for my clients and what’s right, but they RESPECT me. I don’t allow bad business because I’m thorough in my execution. Those who have ill intentions are the ones who normally have issues. Honestly , that’s in life period. Someone who has your best interest, don’t get mad at doing good biz. I am a Latina woman who goes hard everyday but also creates a balance in spirituality. It’s important people surround themselves with peace, love and loyalty.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Yardhouse- Atlantic station The hideout – hookah spot Roc South – restaurant I’m a homebody when I’m not traveling. I’m simple. Lol The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others.
