We had the good fortune of connecting with MeLia Symone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MeLia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create something for myself that not only generated income but also provided value to others in a meaningful way. My short-term rental is designed with tranquility and peace in mind—a space where people can truly unwind and reset. The idea came from a desire to build something intentional, where the energy of the space offers comfort, calm, and a break from the chaos of everyday life. It was important for me to create a business that reflects both purpose and care.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an overall creative who loves all arts, I focus on capturing authenticity—real people, real stories, real emotion in everything I do. I primarily use the film medium to tell stories. What sets my work apart is my intention to make every frame feel true to the story. I often lean into warm tones and comforting visuals, using color and atmosphere to match the emotional depth of the story I’m telling. Lately, I’ve been exploring the documentary space, telling stories that are rooted in truth while still holding space for creativity and care.

What I’m most proud of is my growth, not just as a filmmaker, but as an artist who now fully trusts her vision. Developing my own style and voice has been a journey, and building confidence in that voice has taken time. It hasn’t been easy. Imposter syndrome hit me hard during my early college years, and I questioned whether I belonged in this space. But through consistency, hard work, and leaning into my intuition, I’ve been able to find my place and stand firmly in it.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to trust the process, even when things feel uncertain. Every setback or moment of doubt taught me something about myself, and I’ve stayed dedicated through it all. What I want people to know about me and my brand is that I move with purpose. I create from the heart, and I don’t back down from obstacles. I’m here to tell stories that matter—and to keep growing along the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to Atlanta for a week, I’d want to give them a real mix of what makes this city special—good food, culture, nature, and a little nightlife. We’d definitely start at Waffle House—because if you’re in Atlanta, it’s a must. It’s part of the culture here, especially for locals, and it always hits.

We’d spend a day on the Atlanta BeltLine—walking, grabbing drinks, listening to live music, and checking out the food spots. The vibe there is always active and creative, and there’s always something happening.
On the weekend, I’d take them to Piedmont Park in the morning for the local farmers market. It’s such a peaceful spot to start the day, with fresh food, local vendors, and good people-watching.

For nights out, we’d switch it up depending on the mood. If we want to chill and have good conversation, I’d take them to a speakeasy at Colony Square. But if we’re trying to dance and let loose, MJQ is the move—gritty, fun, and full of energy. We’d definitely carve out a day for nature, so hiking at Stone Mountain would be on the list. It’s grounding and gives a different feel from the city energy.

When it comes to food, I’d take them to some of my favorite local spots like Rreal Tacos—casual but fire. And of course, we’d have at least one cozy indoor day, just relaxing, catching up, watching movies, and doing nothing. Because sometimes that’s the best kind of quality time.
Atlanta has a little bit of everything, and I’d want them to experience it all—from local flavor to hidden gems to good vibes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my dad, Raymond Santana. Since I was a child, he’s been a constant source of confidence, wisdom, and strength for me. I’ve always admired the way he carries himself—with integrity, compassion, and a strong sense of purpose. He’s the type of person who fights for what he believes in, and watching him do that taught me to never back down from my own path.

Because of his support, I had the courage to pursue a creative career and step out on faith to start my own business. He’s been there for me every step of the way—not just as a father, but as a mentor and fellow business owner who helps guide my decisions with care and experience. If it weren’t for him, I truly wouldn’t be who I am today. This shoutout is for him—thank you, Dad, for everything
