We had the good fortune of connecting with Medina Moon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Medina, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Stay on the Journey”

This simple but powerful quote comes from the story of Job in the bible. God allowed the devil to wipe out everything he had. Job lost his kids, wife, animals, but he never lost his faith in God. Because he remained faithful and ‘stayed on the journey’. God gave Job double for his trouble because he never gave up.

Although this journey has been full of ups and downs, God has blessed me continuously. The blessings were worth the blood, sweat and tears I’ve endured during this process.

Stay on the Journey

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
D’Royal Boutique came about sitting in my classroom with fellow teachers. I never thought about owning a boutique or a business for that matter. I had no clue on how to start a business, register for an LLC or anything pertaining to starting a business.

Getting D’Royal Boutique off the ground was not easy. The biggest challenge for me is finding clothing that is true to size, trendy, and has great quality. I’ve lost money and merchandise because the clothing wasn’t up to my standards. As a plus size woman, quality and clothing that is true to size is very important to me.

I’ve made mistakes along the way but I’ve learned from those mistakes. One important lesson I learned is you have to take the good with the bad. You will have days, weeks even months were you may not have a sale but you have to stay on the journey. Keep advertising your business no matter what. Out of sight out of mind. Staying relevant is the key.

One of my proudest moments was April 1, 2021. I launched my website and received my first online order from my best friend in Denver. At that moment is when I realized… I’m a business owner. That was the greatest feeling ever.

When wearing clothing from D’Royal Boutique, I want women to feel empowered, sexy, beautiful and confident.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots from Athens to Atlanta are:

Athens

Chief Burger- best club sandwich and sweet tea
Billy Meadows- best hot dogs in town
SeaBear- best grilled cheese and shrimp and grits

Atlanta
Ms. Icey’s Kitchen and Bar- one of the best brunch spots
Six Feet Under- best drinks hands down
St. James Live- real nice live jazz spot
Krog Street Tunnel- amazing artwork by locals

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this to my parents Tal and Ann Moon also my deceased grandmother Betty King Collins. They all taught me the importance of hard work, the power of prayer and too always trust in God. For that I’m forever greatful.
