We had the good fortune of connecting with Me’ Lisa Jema Matthews and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Me’ Lisa Jema, what role has risk played in your life or career?
This question resonates so well with me. As a child, my mom said I was always pushing myself to the limit. She said I was always a risk taker and up for a challenge, there was nothing a person said I couldn’t or wouldn’t do! That I wouldn’t at least try. At age 10, I was helping my mom with her hair clients, and sketching clothing designs into my little notebook. I have never been the person to just accept No! or limit myself in any aspect of my life or career. I didn’t graduate from college, and before I decided to go into business for myself, I was working for a company as an assistant under my manager who was a general store manager with a bachelors degree, and 7 years with the company. He gave me hell lol he really put me through it, and in under 4 years I went from Assistant key holder to General store manager running my own location. The risk was in me choosing to challenge myself regardless of my lack of credentials.
The reward was me believing in myself, and succeeding.
Two years ago, I took a leap of faith, and relocated from New York to Georgia with my 2-year-old son. I didn’t know exactly how things were going to turn out or if I was even making the right decision. I took a risk, and it was by far one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. I’m truly blessed and I believe In order to truly be successful in life or business you can’t be afraid to take risk, expect the challenges, and overcome obstacles.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a woman of many hats an entrepreneur aka mompreneur of beauty, health, and wellness. I feel they go hand in hand, and you kind of can’t focus on one without other it’s good to have that balance. I try not to limit myself or my capabilities. I’m a Cosmetologist specializing in extensions. a Make up Artist, Fashion Designer/Stylist. I also have my real estate license in the state New York. I have an all natural cosmetics line “Inside & Out Cosmetics “ which consists of all hand made organic products soaps, body oils,
scrubs, and more. I started a fitness brand called “Gainz With Jema” and our focus here is providing healthy affective weight gain options for women wanting to improve their health, and physical appearance. Last but not least I’m introducing my newest business baby to the roster “Jenuine Home Interior” It speaks for itself we’ll be providing Luxury affordable interior decorating, and design services I’m really excited about it. I like to think of my over all brand as a lifestyle.
Which is why it is called the “J.E.M.A Experience”.
here we strive to provide an experience which consists of Luxury, quality, yet affordability, and what sets me apart is my catering to bossed up moms like myself. We as women get so lost in the stigma that life after children is over, your doomed, and that’s so far from the truth. My life after my son has been some of the best years of my life, and I want other moms to understand and know that it’s okay to be both. You can be a great mother, a successful business women, and still enjoy a life outside of that without having to feel guilty about it.
It’s okay indulge in the luxuries life has to offer, you are allowed to focus on your self care, invest in your beauty, have a glass of wine or a drink. Party with your girls, and still be an amazing mother. That’s what my brand is about uplifting, encouraging and letting women and mothers like myself know it’s okay to have it all.

My son He’s really been my motivation for everything. The last 4 years have been extremely challenging, but no matter what’s trials and tribulations I face failure is never an option! I’m human so yes I get discouraged, and things may not happen as quickly as I’d like them to but I always keep in mind that I have this little person, not only depending on me, but he’s also watching me, and I want to make him proud. I’d also would like to acknowledge my amazing mother she’s really my number one fan, my number one supporter, and with every accomplishment she’s always encouraging me to strive for more I’m truly grateful to have a mom like mine.
