We had the good fortune of connecting with McSxorpio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi McSxorpio, what matters most to you?
Prioritizing your time while on earth is the principle that matters the most to me. I feel like people will make time for whatever they want to make time for in this lifetime. If you are making cheap excuses now, then excuse yourself for not being successful in the future too. That may sound harsh but think about it. A ton of us are sitting in the backseat and not taking action that could possibly get us closer to our dreams and benefit us as people. No magical being is going to appear in your life and tell you, “Okay, the time is now.” I have to remind myself of this same exact thing every day too. I just want people to realize that they are more than capable of achieving gr8ness but if you are not using your time wisely then are you really maximizing on your true potential? We are all talented in someway or fashion but if you let time go to waste then your chances to express your talent will also go to waste. There is plenty of room for all of us to exist and succeed. I truly believe there is a crowd for all of us in this world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I first started my career as an artist, I wanted to have the next biggest Crank Dat song. Fortunately, I realized dancing is not my thing, so I decided to go in a different direction. I always loved the vivid imagery poems allowed me to visualize. I also realized artists like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Drake, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Big K.R.I.T. and Kid Cudi (just to name a few) were basically using poetry in their music to express themselves and get the listener to literally see what they were saying through the music. I studied their music and decided to be more personal and relatable in my music rather than release surface level material. Putting words together and make the words bring about certain emotions and feelings gives me an adrenaline rush. As far as if the journey were easy well, I am still on the journey and it is not easy. There are a bunch of hurdles when it comes to building from the ground up. Aiming to get people to believe in you and your art takes a ton of time but I look at it as a test to my persistence. We will keep working and see where this journey takes us. I also will never feel like I made it because even as a person there are always elements about yourself that you can work and improve on throughout this lifetime.
One major lesson I learned is that being your authentic self with little recognition is better than receiving a plethora of recognition by being someone you are not or never will be in your life. I am proud of my work and what is to come next even with a small number of plays on my music. I feel like better days and recognition are on the way. There is no need to stress because I can sense it.
I am currently working on my brand (I don’t want to say the name yet because I know it’s some hawk eye savages lurking the internet) and I can not wait to put the merch together to get people in tune to what I am promoting. It will go global, and I can see people really appreciating and loving the brand. Very soon!!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First things first, you cannot go on a nice trip on an empty stomach, so we are definitely going to Vortex to get the best burgers in Atlanta. I would recommend the Rebel Outlaw burger to anyone who wants a burger that will change their life for the better. The Amicalola Falls would be a nice outdoor adventure. A Braves, Hawks, Falcons, Atlanta United or UGA Football game would be an incredible atmosphere to experience. Hattie B’s off Moreland, Tacos and Tequilas off Ponce, Fox Bros off Dekalb Avenue and the Taco Mac off 138 are very dependable if you want some incredible food. The beltline views are also a must see. You can try kayaking in many of the lakes here (I would not recommend Lake Lanier to even the best of Olympic swimmers) Now that I think about it, there are a bunch of hidden gems here! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Quanathan deserves recognition in my story for the simple fact that he always encourages me to just go for it. If it were not for him, I would still be ripping beats off Youtube instead of producing my own from scratch. He is someone I can always turn to when I have doubt or question if I am going in the right direction with my creativity. We have some collabs in the works coming soon too so look out world!
