Meet Maxime Hue | Brand & Web Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maxime Hue and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maxime, what role has risk played in your life or career?
You know, it’s funny, I grew up fearing any step that was outside of the straight and narrow. I never skipped class, missed the school bus, I tried my best at school, I got my Bsc in Public Health, went to intern at the UNDP- everything I was expected and “meant to do”. As time went on though, I realised that I really didn’t love the life I was living but still didn’t feel like I had any options. I felt bad for wanting more.
It was actually my husband- boyfriend at the time- who was the catalyst that changed my perspective on risk taking. He kept asking me WHY I couldn’t just explore and pursue what I wanted to do. Every time I told him ” what if it doesn’t work”, he would answer back ” well then nothing but what if it does? “.
Since then I see it like this: unless you are hurting yourself or others physically, be scared but still take the jump.
I found that we’re not nervous about the idea of risk taking, we’re fearful of the consequences if it doesn’t pan out and what that really means about us. Risk only becomes risk because there’s no certainty of the outcome and feels scary when we think we might fail.
Once we accept that we can not, in fact, fully control the outcome but we can control how fiercely we go after it and that failure means nothing more about us than a plan that didn’t work out, we can start actually taking steps to chase after what we want.
Asking myself ” what do I actually want?” without judgement or fear of what it means if I fail has allowed me to start creating a life and career that finally feel stimulating and fulfilling. Which has lead me to feel pride for the first time in my life. All because I decided that if the risk didn’t pan out and I did, indeed ” fail”, then at least I would have tried.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In April 2021, with 5 years of brand agency experience and pivots, I founded By Maxime Hue.
By Maxime Hue is a branding and web design studio specialising in thoughtfully minimal design with a strong UX/UI focus, and every project that is born from it is lead by human focused strategy. It serves powerhouse women who are working on scaling their business by up-leveling their brand, website and visuals.
The perspective By Maxime Hue takes is that design is meant to solve problems. It’s not just for the sake of having a cool logo or website. In other words- it has to work. For the studio that means amplifying its client’s success, impact and help them crush their goals (whatever that looks like for them). It means being truly invested in people, their dreams and really wanting to see them win.
All of my clients are industry disruptors in the online space and most are looking to position themselves as the go-to from the get-go. I’m so proud to say that the studio has helped them reach their goals whether it be raising their prices, increasing conversion rates or looking more professional. Best of all though, I love hearing that after working with the studio, my clients feel confident, excited and so proud of their business. 2022 will be the first full year for By Maxime Hue, and I can’t wait to help even more entrepreneurs.
Launching a business is hard work. The biggest thing By Maxime Hue taught me is that you NEED to believe in your business and your ability with fierceness. You have so much to offer but people need to hear and see it. Mindset and pushing yourself to grow is half of the work. The other half is actually doing good work. You got this.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ok so I’m actually based near Utrecht The Netherlands, so I can’t tell you where to go in Atlanta ( it’s on my bucket list!). I promise to update when I come to visit!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my husband Vefa who believed in me when no one else did or would ( even myself ). He was the first to say that anything was possible and encouraged my endeavours every step of the way. I wouldn’t have ever dared to think about what I wanted, let alone start my business, without his optimism.
I also want to take the time to give credit to Ashli Pollard, the owner of Team AP Consulting. I joined her group course Square One Accelerator In Feb 2021 and my life has completely changed since then. The course gave me everything I needed to think more strategically and less fearfully about starting a business, but she took ( and still does ) the time to push me to take action. She has a genuine desire to see people win and it’s infectious.
