We had the good fortune of connecting with Masika George and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Masika, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
Our ultimate vision is to build a recognizable brand, and expand our reach through franchising opportunities,
ultimately leaving behind a reamarkable legacy.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Swing is an 18-hole Miniature Golf Course and Axe Throwing Experience with a rotating lineup of food truck vendors. We opened for business in June 2023 and have welcomed tens of thousands of visitors locally and globally.
One of the things that sets us apart is our dedication to providing top-notch customer service. We recognized a widespread lack of quality service, so we’ve made it our priority to ensure that every visitor to Swing feels welcomed and valued.
We’re extremely excited to share our plans for expansion. Our goal is to add a new attraction every year, so we’re thrilled to announce the opening of FLING Axe Throwing Lanes. Now our customers can SWING & FLING in one place. Although our guests can currently enjoy a cold beer while Swingin’ & Flingin’, we’re also working on building a bar to elevate their experience.
It’s taken a lot of dedication to reach this point, and the work continues. Expanding Swing with new attractions is like starting a new business each time. Axe throwing has different requirements than mini golf, and adding a bar presents its own set of challenges and rewards. Despite the differences, there’s always the same level of planning, excitement, and potential for mistakes.
It’s essential to embrace mistakes and challenges as learning opportunities. When our course turned out smaller than planned, we saw an opportunity. Instead of focusing on the setback, we transformed the extra space into a party area and added axe throwing lanes.
We learned early on that finger pointing doesn’t solve problems. Business setbacks are inevitable, but how you overcome them defines your success. Swing was built with passion, hard work, and dedication. You can feel that energy when you visit. We’re excited to expand and share this experience with the world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start the week off at The Spa at Serebe on Monday, followed by some shopping at the local shops. On Tuesday, we’d enjoy dinner at Enzo’s at Trilith and do more shopping. Wednesday, we’d grab seafood chowder at Gumbeaux Cajun Cafe. Thursday, we’d take a day trip to Savannah to explore museums and antique shops. On Friday night, we’d check out Lips Drag Queen Restaurant they put on an amazing show. Saturday, we’d enjoy some Whollotta Scoopz water ice and spend the day at Swing. On Sunday, we’d have tea at The Queen’s Tea Party Experience and then explore some historic sites in the area, which is one of my favorite things to do. I love seeing old homes and barns, especially when they’ve been turned into museums.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to extend our shoutout to the Andersons, owners of J&D’s BBQ in San Francisco, for inspiring our food truck park and mini golf concept. They also connected us with the owner of a similar business (SF Spark) and together they provided alot of valuable insights. Thank you guys!
