We had the good fortune of connecting with Maryium Ahmed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maryium, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I remember that just before I decided to pursue a career in photography, I found a bunch of pictures from when I was a baby with my parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Over the years, we had less and less pictures together. We individually take pictures on our cellphones but don’t have very few if any of our entire family. Those are important when you look back. Those are memories. I thankfully still have both my parents, but I have friends who lost their parents which made me realize how imperative it is to have pictures to capture the important and meaningful moments and people in our lives. So, I bought a camera and my family and I did a photo shoot together for the first time in a long time. I then decided to share this same experience with each and every family I’ve worked with ever since.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It is not easy being a photographer as I feel the field is very saturated but I think what sets me apart from the other photographers is in the colors of my pictures. I prefers the bright and bold colors because they bring the picture to life. My work is consistent and I have found a way to deliver emotion through color. I am proud of how far I have come in a short period of time and I am grateful to my clients who have helped me grow and learn but I still have a long way to go.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Parents are the most important people in your life. Everything I am today is because of them. My parents sacrificed a lot to bring me and my siblings to the US for our education. They continue to put their wants and needs aside for our future. They push me to do my best and I work hard everyday to achieve all that they hope for me,
