We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Lane and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My name is Mary Lane and I am the founder of the company PerfectedEverything. Founded in 2015, as a company that created custom empowerment t-shirts for businesses, which has now evolved into sharing the lessons I’ve learned. My first example of a true business women was my mother, she imparted in me the foundation necessary to be a successful Black woman true to her craft. I’ve used that foundation to build a business that will help shape the next group of business owners into founders that see beyond profit. I have been a business owner myself for over 10 years and experienced roadblocks that reshaped my thinking as well, having worked in multiple industries. Helping those who are looking to elevate their business as owners or potential business owners, and those working in Corporate America is one of my passions.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

What sets PerfectedEverything apart is our focus on the *why* behind business. While many are chasing profits or visibility, I guide entrepreneurs to build sustainable, meaningful businesses rooted in purpose, professionalism, and authenticity. This stems from the first businesswoman I ever admired, my mother, who taught me the importance of staying true to your craft. That foundation shaped how I show up today: as a Black woman helping others lead with integrity, service, and intention.

With over 20 years in real estate and extensive experience in education across Georgia, I’ve seen firsthand the gaps many new business owners face, not just in strategy, but in etiquette, communication, and mindset. That’s why I now host quarterly Business Etiquette Workshops, where I teach aspiring and current entrepreneurs how to present themselves professionally, build meaningful relationships, and understand the emotional experience their brand leaves behind.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned, and one I emphasize in every workshop, is this… people may forget your pitch, but they’ll always remember how your business made them feel. That emotional connection is often overlooked, yet it’s essential to long-term success.

Building this business hasn’t always been easy, but the challenges taught me patience, clarity, and the importance of always coming back to the basics. I want the world to know that PerfectedEverything is more than a business, it’s a movement to help shape the next generation of founders who lead with heart, etiquette, and vision.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

A walk in a local park to start your day with fresh air.
Brunch at a small cafe with tables outside (Atlanta has many).
Shopping at a mall or outlet.
Roof top night experience overlooking Atlanta nite lights.
House window shopping

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the incredible community I’ve found through the Silver Sisters Society. What began as a vision to empower mature women, celebrate the beauty of our silver and gray crowns, and create a safe, uplifting space has grown into something so much more. Through our shared mission, I’ve not only witnessed others being supported but have felt it deeply myself.

Together, we’ve served our communities by distributing food in the West End, hosting school supply giveaways and fun days for neighborhood children, organizing clothing drives for the Atlanta Mission during the winter, and gathering essentials for historically Black nursing homes that are often overlooked. Being surrounded by women who genuinely care about communities and are willing to take action fills us all with a sense of purpose and joy. The Silver Sisters have reminded me that when women come together to uplift others, we also uplift ourselves.
