We had the good fortune of connecting with Martina Stellmaszek and Juliana Caspari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Martina and Juliana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ask any mom about the challenges of motherhood and you’ll hear words like sleep deprivation, stress management, keeping the kids entertained, and more. But one thing that nearly every mom goes through but rarely talks about—whether out of guilt or the fear of being judged—is the feeling of isolation. Being home with little humans who demand your time, attention, and energy day in and day out can be physically and mentally taxing. However, you might worry you will appear ungrateful, selfish, or weak if you mention needing help or needing more human interaction than what your child(ren) provide(s). This is exactly how we felt when we each became mothers – we felt isolated and very alone. We wanted to create for new moms in Atlanta what we had been missing: a network that brings new moms together to share their experiences and find the support they need. We believe that motherhood is challenging enough; no one should have to go through it alone.

What should our readers know about your business?
MESH moms is a membership based support network with a special focus on pregnancy and the early childhood years. Our goal is to create a community for support, guidance, and resources that new moms need to thrive. We want to be an alternative to the many virtual-only mothers’ communities. We offer year-round activities, including regular playdates, educational opportunities, and adults-only social gatherings. In addition to our memberships, we organize postpartum pods which are an exclusive six week series offering a small group learning experience for support and connection in the three months after birth and which are led by a postpartum doula. Even though we only started in July 2023, we have already received overwhelmingly positive feedback for which we are very proud. Moms have shared messages with us such as “After just a couple of weeks, I feel like I have new close friends. It is so nice to have a group of ladies who are IN IT!” and “MESH moms brought me out of my postpartum isolation and absolutely reinvigorated me. It inspired me to reconnect with my friends and family and to embrace and enjoy the newborn stage instead of being afraid of it.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a week-long visit to Atlanta with my best friend, I’d start with brunch at Buttermilk Kitchen for some delicious southern fare. We’d explore the Beltline for a leisurely stroll and maybe rent bikes to see more of the city. Dinner at Staplehouse, known for its innovative cuisine, would be a must.

During the week, we’d visit the Georgia Aquarium to marvel at the aquatic wonders, followed by cocktails at Polaris for stunning skyline views. A day trip to the Chattahoochee National Forest for hiking and picnicing would be on the agenda for some outdoor adventure.

For a taste of Atlanta’s vibrant nightlife, we’d head to Ponce City Market for dinner at Minero and drinks at Skyline Park, enjoying the lively atmosphere and skyline views. We’d wrap up the trip with a visit to the High Museum of Art to appreciate some world-class artwork before saying farewell to the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
During her time on the West Coast, Martina was introduced to Southern Marin Mothers Club which introduced her to the concept of moms from various backgrounds coming together and supporting each other.
