We had the good fortune of connecting with Martina & Betiana Tozzi & Bet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Martina & Betiana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We always wanted to have our own business or rather “be our own boss”. But we never thought of doing it together. I always admired Betu, she is super creative and talented. Not only in matters related to her profession, but also in baking and coming up with things for her children’s birthdays, like decorations, goodie bags, and cakes. That’s why I always encouraged her to do something with all the talent she has. Finally, one day she showed me what she had made for her daughter’s birthday. It was amazing, she made the tents by herself, as the pictures show, for the sleepover. My husband then suggested we can do something like that together. I love decorating and making things look nicer. So I said to Betu: I can help you, we can combine our interests and create our own business. It all started at the end of last year. We had the idea to do more than just renting tents for birthday parties, that’s why we chose the name “More than tents”. We are offering a personal package of activities (art, movie, spa night). and cakes. In addition, we have opened Instagram and Facebook accounts, but are still working on them. While there are several companies in Atlanta that are dedicated to the same activity, we thought about how we can differentiate ourselves. That’s why we think that small details can make the difference, we want uniqueness to be our distinguishing point.
In our culture birthdays are a significant occasion not only to share with friends but also with relatives. Sometimes there are family members that you only see on this special occasion.. Because of that, being able to help in the organization of a children’s party is so special for us, it reminds us of our own childhood. The whole day has to be colorful, fun and enjoyable. We love this idea and being part of a kid’s moment and memories is our goal. Now it’s time to start translating our ideas into concrete and we are in the process.
What should our readers know about your business?
It is a business specially designed for children that we are building with a lot of love and taking care of every detail. We want to try to meet the expectations of both parents and children. As well as our own as new entrepreneurs. We are in a process of thinking and rethinking how to offer original things and at the same time accessible to many. Our goal is to enjoy every process of it, that it is not only a job and a way of life, but that we can also find enjoyment and pleasure in it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend is visiting us we would love to show his/her Roswell and its historic area. They are developing new buildings, shopping, stores and restaurants. Alp Roswell Downtown is a fantastic place to hang out and walk around. Also, you have plenty of places to choose for great meals, drinking a coffee and so much more. We would love to show our friend parks such as Roswell Park and its recreational area, then walk to the Historic District where we can enjoy a nice brunch at Roswell Provisions. After that, we could walk along the Riverwalk. We don’t want to miss the opportunity to spy the new sumptuous and modern constructions that are being developed in the area. For lunch we have many options too, but we would choose an Italian restaurant, Osteria Mattone, which has a limited menu but is very tasty and effective. And to close the weekend one of the nights we would love to enjoy a delicious tapeo, Madrid Spanish Taverna, and its live flamenco music. What a pleasure just imagining that!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First of all we want to thank our children because through them we can keep our spirit cheerful, full of energy and creativity. Also our spouses, family and friends who support us in this new challenge since we started thinking about it. They encourage us to continue, not to give up and to accomplish our goals.
