We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquita Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marquita, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I am a mother of two boys, I also work full-time in the medical field. Balancing there school activities, being a soccer mom, creating fashion content and finding personal time for myself have been challenging. I have now learned to create balance for my family and creating a self care day for me. Being intentional to my kids needs and also giving myself attention, and finding peace within myself. Now things just flow, my creativity is flowing, and I am finding joy in all the things I that I do. Balance is key for me in this season and moving forward in the future.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Personal Stylist/Wardrobe Stylist. I demonstrate how to put clothing items together and create your own fashionable look. I know that I can walk into a room, with confidence and leave other feeling good about themself. I am most proud of the confidence that I have. I carry a light that has been placed within me. When others see me, It is not just Marquita standing in the room. They can see the light God has place with in.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am from Detroit, MI and have relocated to Atlanta, GA, I would start by taking her to eating brunch at some of my favorites place to eat like Murphy’s Atlanta, The Select ATL and Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles. They have great food and the ambiance is great as well in each place. Then off to see the city by taking the Peachtree Trolley to see the great views of Atlanta. Then off to the Art exhibit at High Museum of Art. They have unique pieces to view, and you get to enjoy it at your leisure. Who don’t like to enjoy some good food to feed your soul. Winding down the visit with a trip to Marcus Bar and Grill. and having a good laugh at The Beltline. I am quite sure they are more exciting things to do in Atlanta. I’m finding my way and getting to know my city just a lil bit more.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give my shout out to my parents, my sons and to Mrs. Regina. They have all been there for me in so many ways. Without their support I definitely would not be who I am today. My parents, for believing in me and supporting me in my journey. My young men, my boys for walking through the hard times with me and telling me, mom you can do it!!. Mrs. Regina for taking me under her wings and allowing me be her assistant makeup artist for 5yrs. When I left makeup behind and move forward into fashion. She let me fly and encourage me to be who I am.
