We had the good fortune of connecting with Markesha Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Markesha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started Pretty Stringz Cosmetics in 2019 because I was tired of my 9 to 5. I wanted to be able to work on my terms and spend time with my family whenever I wanted to. Growing up in a single parent home my mom always worked 2 to 3 jobs just to take care of us. I didn’t want that for my kids. I wanted to be able to be at every event they needed me to be and enjoy watching them grow up and of course spoil them with any and everything that I can,comfortably. Paying back my mom and my sister for all the hard work they did and continue to do for me and my family as well. Having a love for cosmetics was just the icing on the cake.

What should our readers know about your business?
One thing that sets me apart from others is that I’m constantly changing. Nothing in my business will ever be the same. From the way that I design my products to the way that I choose my products I’m always thinking about what my competitors aren’t. My business is growing and that makes me proud the most on top of not giving up. It’s definitely not an easy road. I’ve had people take my ideas and recently had someone try to take my business. It was a big crush to my spirit but I had to remember why I started and what I am trying to accomplish. God got me.You can’t work hard and have nothing to show for it. If your working hard everything will come together with patience and I think that’s one thing I have a lot of. You have to keep going never let one failure set you back. Never let anything hold you back from being the greatest in anything that you do. You have to stay consistent, organized, motivated and honest with yourself. Dream big! It’s tatted on me and I live by it everyday! Your the only person responsible for your success. If you want to be successful it all starts with a dream that is up to you to turn into reality. I want the world to know my brand! My brand caters to every person who wants to feel pretty! It’s designed to make you feel pretty but also to provide you with a luxury feel. Follow your dreams!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My family visits from out of town often. When they are here we love to go to chilis, top golf and the aquarium. After that we usually like to see what events are going on and attend those. Atlanta always has something going on you just have to find what you will like.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my family! They are my motivation for everything that I do. They are the most patient, kind and understanding people. The days when I feel like giving up, they are always there to give me the motivation I need to keep going!
