We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mark, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Commitment and tenacity. I always looked at business opportunities with a ‘failure is not an option’ outlook. Having a commitment to always exceed expectations is key with any business venture.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Lazy Guy Distillery was established in 2013 so we’ve been around for ten years and that’s significant. I’m most proud of the fact that we have the oldest aged GA Straight Bourbon and Rye whiskey in the state. That speaks to my commitment to persevere in an industry that is highly regulated, heavily taxed and extremely competitive. The number of distilleries that have opened in Georgia in the last few years has skyrocketed due to specific alcohol regulations that didn’t exist prior to 2017. Those laws have allowed Lazy Guy to steadily grow our brand in ways that were not previously possible, such as direct sales to customers at our distillery location.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Of course, check out Lazy Guy Distillery! Metro Atlanta has something for most everybody from arts & culture, parks and recreation, history, theater, food & drink and more. The Sandy Springs City center, Cobb Performing Arts ,Fox Theater and the High Museum of Art have fresh exhibits and performances all year long. Atlanta is loaded with good restaurants from neighborhood eats to fine dining across all price ranges. There are lots of parks and outdoor spaces from Piedmont Park in downtown Atlanta to Kennesaw Mountain and the Silver Comet Trail here in Cobb County. Being in the alcohol business I always enjoy visiting breweries and other distilleries and there are plenty across Metro Atlanta.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Simply put…. Lazy Guy wouldn’t be successful without our loyal customers. There is a huge synergy between delivering an exceptional customer experience and building a stable and viable brand. Engaging with customers, listening to what they like and building relations is very satisfying. Having a great product means nothing if customers don’t feel engaged with a brand and the best way to win that customer over is to delivery an exceptional customer service experience.
