We had the good fortune of connecting with Marisa Skolky and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marisa, what matters most to you?
The value that matters most to me is being in integrity.
A major shift happened for me in my healing journey when I realized that INTEGRITY was literally EVERYTHING. I had to start keeping the mini promises I made to myself (and my inner child), and act in accordance with my values and goals in order to build self-trust. I went from being an Assistant Vice President at a top insurance brokerage while struggling with Bulimia, to living a life of freedom, integrity, and authenticity as an Integrative Healing Arts Practitioner and a Psychedelic Integration Coach.
Integrity is important to me because its a foundation for self trust, which leads to more aligned action. It’s the unwavering commitment to showing up, no matter what and developing self-respect.
When I was trapped in the depths of my eating disorder, integrity felt like a distant dream, a shattered mirror reflecting a fractured sense of self. But through the journey of recovery, I learned that true integrity begins within. It’s about honoring my body, my mind, and my spirit with kindness, compassion, and unwavering honesty.
Integrity matters most to me because it’s the foundation upon which I’ve rebuilt my life. It’s the courage to speak my truth, even when it’s difficult. It’s the commitment to honoring my body’s needs, nourishing it with love and respect instead of succumbing to destructive behaviors.
Integrity is the light that guides me on the path of self-discovery and healing. It’s the compass that points me towards authenticity, wholeness, and freedom. And most importantly, it’s the reminder that I am worthy of love, acceptance, and joy, just as I am.
So yes, integrity matters most to me because it’s not just a value; it’s a testament to my resilience, my strength, and my unwavering commitment to living a life of authenticity, purpose, and self-love.

I’m a living example of how to get unstuck and live a life of true alignment and purpose. Once I decided to take a 3 month sabbatical from my insurance career, and focus on my mental health and wellness, everything shifted for me. I learned the importance of taking space, connecting with my inner child, and developing integrity and self trust. It was not easy, but I’ve always been dedicated to my personal growth and knew I was born to help others. I had been offering Reiki, Hypnotherapy and Psychedelic Integration support on the side since 2015 , but didnt feel confident enough to go full time until my body forced me to choose a different life path.
Deep, authentic connection and expression is the driving force in my life, and in my work with others. I’m here to remind you that your story, your experiences, and your voice are sacred and worthy. They are the keys that unlock the gates to your true being, the catalysts that ignite the flame of your unique purpose.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to R Thomas for brunch to an enjoy delicious vegetarian food in an eclectic, colorful atmosphere. (and connect with the beautiful parrots outside the restaurant). We would go to an ecstatic dance class, like Beyond Limits Conscious Dance or Sol Dance, bike ride or walk on the Silver Comet Trail in Smyrna, and go for a hike at the Roswell Mill to enjoy the waterfalls.
We would spend a whole day at Jeju in Gwinnett, relaxing in the multiple types of dry saunas, finishing off with a body scrub or a massage.
Another place we would go to is Kava Mama in Atlanta, where Angie would offer us the highest quality kava to help us relax and enjoy our day. We would also walk the Atlanta Beltline and enjoy the murals and artwork on the walls.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am so blessed to have had many incredible mentors, friends, and conscious community that have significantly contributed to my success and where I am in life.
If I could choose one person who has contributed the most to my success, it is Karen O Neel, an addiction recovery coach who works at Iboga Protocol, in Mexico. I was divinely guided to connect with my mentor, Karen O Neel, who healed from 35 years of Bulimia after having an ibogaine experience. I was inspired and hopeful that it could happen for me too, and it did! I will always be grateful that I had her by my side while she watched the light return to my eyes after struggling for 16 long years.
She encouraged me with her blunt, unapologetic style, cultivating key concepts of radical acceptance, self- compassion, and inner child work. Karen has played a huge part in empowering me to rewrite my life’s story and live in love rather than fear. She believed in me from the very beginning and she is a beacon of light in this world. I’m truly inspired by her.
