We had the good fortune of connecting with Marie Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marie, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Unconditional and never ending love of my fur babies (dogs). They are my constant companions. I am with them more than anyone else in my life. If I go, they go. If they can’t go, then I don’t go. My children are grown and have their own lives and my husband works a lot so my dogs are my best friends and fill the void. We understand each other.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work is managing my dogs. I take care of their health, diet, social media all around well being. Also managing entertainment/potential filming projects for them. Being animal models and actors are very different than human actors. Most people don’t realize that they have agents as well. Our agent is Jamie Hill of Universal Animals. I would like to say it was through a lot of hard work, but it came as a result of the right opportunity at the right time and having the right breed of dogs at that time. My bulldogs were cast as the family dogs in the HBO Max Limited series The Staircase. @thestaircasebulldogs It was somewhat easy getting into it, but the challenging part came when it was time to shoot a scene. Not knowing anything about the movie industry I had to learn in the process. Some lessons were easy some lessons were hard. Until we get another job we are building our social media account and busy being ambassadors for multiple companies, and in the work to collaborate with multiple others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend and I are pretty much homebodies, and we more than likely would stay home all night, making dinner and reminiscing about funny stories. However, I would probably at least take her to Halcyon to see a movie and go through the shops. It is such a neat little area.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jamie Stimach deserves the recognition. Were it not for her all of the pieces that happened as a result of us meeting would never have fallen into place. She is the animal casting Director at Universal Animals.
