We had the good fortune of connecting with Mare Oshea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mare, how do you think about risk?
I wouldn’t have a career without taking the risks that I have in my life! Everything new and scary is a risk but continuing on in spite of fear of failure has been the best moto. The only way out is through and I never give up.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a painter and sculptor diving into the art of hair after earning my BA was kismet. I found my way into creating wearable art by trying everything and failing at many things many times until I forged my own path. From working 72hr weeks while in hair school to being 8+wks booked out 3yrs into being behind the chair, it was always an adventure. Perilous at times yet I wouldn’t trade my experience for the world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite places in Atlanta are the historic buildings and neighborhoods. The architecture that has been preserved is so texturally pleasing and inspires me consistently. Krog st tunnel , the GA tech exit bridge of 85 driving into the city, the west side cemeteries, downtown Decatur, and Emory campus to name a few.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My right hand Sof Beck, has been integral to building my brand and recognition. They are my photographer , social media coordinator, and friend. They are also an incredibly talented lingerie designer who is focused on slow fashion and sustainability.
