We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Ray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcus, what do you attribute your success to?
Staying focused and being consistent with branding. You have to make it clear to customers what they can expect from you. You need to be presenting consistent images and messaging to customers in each of your marketing channels, whether it be your website, social media, email, advertising, signage or in‑stores.

Have a Vision Statement—What do you want to achieve? What are your core values? How will your brand reflect this? A vision statement helps you focus and rally your team to achieve your business’s over‑arching goals.
How do you want to be perceived in the marketplace? It’s about matching customer expectations with how your organization wants to be perceived. For me its about establishing a firm ground to bring my vision to life for the customers. It makes it easier for your marketing, sales and customer service teams to all speak with one, consistent voice.

This consistency across the customer experience is what breeds trust. Trust produces sales and encourages loyal, repeat customers.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always liked being creative. As a kid i was always drawing and designing things, trying to come up with new and unique concepts. That same mindset of coming up with unique looks has carried over to my design process with the Money Rite Collection. Most clothing brands might have a team of designers to come up with new Ideas, I take pride in being hands on and coming up with the concepts on my own.

It definitely has not been an easy process, I’ve had my share of failures along the way but the biggest takeaway from each of those failures, is to find out where it went wrong improve on it and come back bigger and better each time. You know you’ve got something going for you when the younger generation stops you in the malls and ask you about your swag.
Then to see my kids creative side come out and they ask me if I can help them start their on brand, little do they know that my main purpose behind building my brand is to pass it on to them when the time is right. Its all about passing down LLC’s and House Deeds to the next generation for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Its Atlanta, there are so many options to choose from. I’m not big on the club scene anymore, so when it comes down to it, I’m all about winging it. I usually check online to see what’s happening that week. It could be anything from a Braves game to hitting Atlanta Comedy Theater. When it comes to dining out, in my opinion you’ve got to hit up one of these Brazilian Steakhouses or Juicy Crab.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly there are so many people that have helped me along the way. Whether is be by advertising my products on their social media or wearing it around town and telling people where they can find it. So to my parents, siblings, children, close friends and lets not forget my fiancée, thank you. I’m sure there are some that I forgot to mention, but I am extremely grateful for each person that has helped me build and grow my brand.
