Meet Marcia Williams Cromer | Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcia Williams Cromer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marcia, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been an avid writer and turned that interest into a successful marketing profession. The story of my group of friends called “The Dreamers” has been one that I felt was unique and wanted to share for years. The six of us women have been friends since kindergarten and have maintained our closeness for several decades. I saw our story as one of female empowerment that I wanted to share.
My work and travel schedule made completing the goal challenging. Then, COVID-19 sidelined the world for several months. I was determined to come out of the pandemic with something positive. “The Rancher in Stilettos” is my COVID baby.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Writing has always been my way of telling my story. It’s cathartic and motivating while also allowing me to transfer those skills to my professional life and marketing career. The journey to this point was easy in that I recognized my craft as a gift which allows me to communicate with others. Challenges are definitely a part of any journey, however, once you realize that the goal should drive the process, those challenges are seen as stepping stones to success. I have learned that my attitude determines my altitude. If the goals were easy, everyone would be able to walk my path. Along the way, I have learned the value of persistence, collaboration, dedication and commitment to any endeavor I begin.
My brand is one of empowerment. It’s never too late to own your heart’s dream– that dream that continues to circle back to you as a reminder of your own strength and power.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love nature, so I will always want to do something outside, like visit the arboretum or go horseback riding. I also love to cook, and entertaining has been such a passion in my life. It allows me to connect with people from various backgrounds and hear their stories and passions that motivate them. I truly feed off the dynamic of a group of positive people enjoying themselves.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In addition to my sisters, “The Dreamers” who are characters in my novel, I am blessed to have had strong women role models throughout my life. Both my grandmothers were farmers who ran their own businesses after the death of their husbands. My mother, aunts and several female cousins have all been professionals, entrepreneurs and role models on my journey.
