Meet Marci M | Blogger and Travel Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marci and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marci, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
One of the things that I enjoy most in life is being married. I desired to be a light for marriage, so I told my husband I wanted to create a blog to share marriage content. He supported my interest in starting the blog thus, how the concept of Adventures in Marriage with JaM was born.

After spending a tremendous amount of time watching YouTube videos and reading about starting a blog, I created the Adventures in Marriage with JaM Blog.

Unfortunately, creating a blog does not automatically lead to readers. Thus, I went back to YouTube and read blogs about attracting readers. One suggestion was creating a YouTube Channel that can assist with bringing people to the blog.

As a result, the Adventures in Marriage with JaM YouTube Channel was born. On the YouTube Channel, we share travel and marriage content.

We noticed that quite a few people referenced the travel content on our YouTube Channel. Eventually, people began contacting us with travel questions which led to expanding Adventures in Marriage with JaM to a Travel Agency. I am now a travel agent so that we can support people planning their travels.

What started as a goal to post weekly blogs has morphed into a YouTube Channel and travel agency. The main focus at this time is growing all three aspects of Adventures in Marriage with JaM.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Adventures in Marriage with JaM is a relatively new venture. Although I enjoy Adventures in Marriage with JaM, I work full-time outside the blog and travel agency.

I have worked in the field of education for over ten years. Over the last two years, I managed to work full-time and maintain Adventures in Marriage with JaM. Organization and time management have contributed to my ability to maintain both ventures.

Since I work full-time, my time working on the blog and travel agency is either mornings before work, evenings after work and/or weekends.

One of the things I am most proud of is graduating with a Doctorate in Education at the same time as my husband. That moment felt great to accomplish as an individual, but even more special to celebrate it with my spouse, who also achieved this goal.

This experience was not easy. It required several early mornings, late nights, and weekend work. From this experience, I know that sacrifice and hard work will lead to achieving my goals. I diligently apply the same determination to my work with Adventures in Marriage with JaM.

Adventures in Marriage with JaM has yet to grow to my expected levels. However, I feel God is telling me to continue on the path. God has a way of sending people to tell my husband and me they are following our content to let me know that what we do is making a difference regardless of analytics.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When visiting the Atlanta area, there are many activities for guests to consider. Based on the time of the year, I recommend an Atlanta Braves Baseball Game, Atlanta Hawks Basketball Game, or Atlanta Falcons Football Game. If it is not baseball season, The Battery Atlanta is still a great place to visit.

Cake and Sip Atlanta is ideal for tapping into a person’s creative side and decorating a miniature cake while enjoying a refreshing beverage.

The World of Coca-Cola is a unique place to visit. The best part is trying the variations of Coca-Cola.

Atlantic Station is perfect for dining, entertainment, and shopping.

The Atlanta City Pass offers the opportunity to visit five attractions in Atlanta for one price. Guests can visit the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, and Zoo Atlanta. Guests can also choose two of the following: Fernbank Museum of Natural History, College Football Hall of Fame, and National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
