We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Vikton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marc, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I feel as though the career found me as opposed to me pursuing the career itself. It all originated from a hobby that eventually became something that could eventually become profitable. It was a creative space that brought peace to the forefront of my mental health that thankfully transpired into a business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would like to give the credit of my success to individuals near and dear to my heart. Without the people in my personal circle, my motivation for continuing to push from a business standpoint and I would have given up a long time ago. The biggest challenge I have faced was more internal which was always derived from a place of doubt invoked from “FOMO” but was overcame from discovering the confidence within myself to know that I am great enough to be in this realm of established creatives. What I would like the world to know about me is that no matter what adversities you may face, do not allow those obstacles to dim the fire you have for your love of creating.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A few spot I would introduce them to would include:

The Southern Kitchen
The House of Found Objects
Roots & Revelry
The Birmingham Art Museum
The Vulcan

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Dareontae Ray who is an established hairstylist based in Birmingham, Alabama. His ambition is overwhelmingly inspiring to witness and his tenacity to achieve his sought out goals as well as his online presence is honestly motivating!
