We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Hamm and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marc, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I prayed about starting My business out of necessity to be able to be a stay-at-home Dad. I was raising my Son and needed to be at home for him as well as having knee surgery.
I knew my business would be computer-related because I had been trained in Graphics, Web Design & fixing computers.
So the Man upstairs answered that prayer. On Feb 2, 2005, I started Procurement Websites., LLC. It is now known as Pro Web Firm.
What should our readers know about your business?
Customer service sets us apart from other web design companies. We go above and beyond for our clients. We are always a resource for our clients. When they need help with something other than our specific services, we go and help them find what they are looking for. We introduce them to people who can help them grow their business. We are always networking with other like-minded professionals.
Our initial challenge was business credit. We didn’t have any. We learned about net 30, duns #, ein # and establishing business credit to grow our business.
I learned to stop listening to people who don’t have your best interest at heart. I would rather do it and get it wrong and learn from that. Then to listen to someone sending me down the wrong path and having to start all over learning it for myself.
I learn to be a Boss.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my BFF was in town, I would take them to the Escape room for entertainment and then go to Flavor Rich in Duluth GA to eat brunch.
For Lunch, we would go pick up a seafood broil in a bag from Juicy Crab. But, bring it home and throw some snow crab legs in a big pot and eat until we are stuffed.
For Dinner, I would probably cook out on the grill and make some jerk chicken. Our 2nd dinner option would be the Avalon in Alpharetta for a nice dinner & drinks.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give all the credit to the Man Upstairs.
Also, My Father & Brother were very instrumental in my teachings.
So, I will shout out my father who retired after 31 years of owning a Shoe repair business. Jerry’s Shoe Service.
And, shout out to my brother Jerry Hamm of University Apparel, Inc. He has been in business since 1988.
I used to work for both of them and my Father taught me how to deal with clients. They are not always right.
My Brother taught me how to dream big and to persevere through adversity. Basically, longevity is the key to success along with some hustle & grit.
