We had the good fortune of connecting with Mama Sha and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mama, what do you attribute your success to?
The fact that I stay true to myself and situations. I bring realness when I speak to my clients. I do not sugar coat, but I am also very compassionate. That’s why I feel my brand has been successful. I stay true to myself in everything that I do. I came from a high stress environment. I went through a transformation that caused me to change my mindset to help me survive the crazy obstacles. That drive helped me get to this space that I’m in today and I will forever be grateful for the process.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am also an herbalist, so promoting healing with the mind and body was a huge shift for me professionally. Fast forward to now, I basically use some of the things that I was shown and add a little twist. I use herbs, oils, and intentions to help my clients. I offer free classes to help them move past obstacles. Creating a safe haven where my clients to come to have always been the goal in everything I do. I had to learn to adapt with the time to make sure I touch everyone in their own special way. What really excites me about my journey, is the people! I love to talk to people, I love the energy exchange because in some cases I learn valuable lessons too. I used the lessons I have learned to get me here professionally. I am an agent of change and in order to make changes, I know that certain things you have to let go. Moving along with the growth is what helped me grow bigger in my field. It was not easy, I went through many heartaches and heartbreaks because I had to learn how to set boundaries. I had to learn how to stand up and deliver on what I was teaching. I can’t tell you to protect your energy when I’m not protecting mine. I want the world to normalize accepting themselves. Not worrying or needing acceptance from others is one of the most liberating moments of my life. I want everyone to be able to experience that feeling and to allow them continue to grow into the better versions of themselves.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I’m a country girl that loves city life. I’m not very knowledgeable with certain spots in the city. I’m one of them people who like to live everyday like it’s Friday. If we were to come to the city, we would definitely get massages either at Jeju Sauna or go to my new favorite spot Treat Your Feet . We both love a good cocktail so any nice lounge to enjoy the night life. My friends know I like to go with the flow and sometimes do things out of the ordinary, so a nice picnic in Piedmont Park would be something I know we would enjoy. We all love to shop so that’s a given! We love eccentric things so strolling Little Five Points would definitely be a thing that would enjoy.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This special moment is dedicated to my late Grandmother and friends Tiffney Parker, J.J Randolph III, & Marty Thornton. I had the privilege to be in the presence of true genuine love from all four of these individuals. All four have witnessed me in all phases of my life. These four are my guardian angels, they have been protecting me along the way. I will always pay homage to the Great Four. I know you all are rooting for me on the other side. I also want to send a huge thank you to my Mother, Father and Sister. All of them have played pivotal roles in my career. It did not matter if we were up or down , their love never faded. I love you guys. My childhood friends Michelle Barker and Tori Alexander have been a huge motivation for me with their fiery ambition. They showed me by example that anything is possible. For the ones I did not mention I love everyone who had the opportunity to bless me with their presence and pour into me to strive for excellence. Thank you all so much.
