We had the good fortune of connecting with Malika Daniels and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malika, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factors behind my brand is education and honesty. Before I create anything, I educate myself about the ingredients I’m using and then test the products on myself or other individuals with different skin types. Once I see/feel that the product is safe, effective and good for all consumers, I finalize the product.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Healthful Healer’s is a holistic health practice that specializes in yoga, aromatherapy wellness, herbal healing and coming soon this year, massage therapy will be added to the practice. I believe I am where I am today simply because I put my higher power first, set my vision and made it happen. Was it easy? Of course not but I overcame those challenges by freeing myself from the expectations of others, putting my goals first and being humble. One of the major lessons I learned this process was, you can not listen to those who are not on your same wavelength. Put encouragement in yourself, have enough faith in yourself to keep pushing and block out pessimism.

Healthful Healer’s motto is happy , healthy, holistic healing. That means we believe in healing the mind, body and spirit. You need all three factors together to make a whole person healthy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A day in Columbia , SC can be great. First I would take him/her to FIT Columbia for an Ariel yoga experience, eat at Mimsy’s Kitchen for some delicious African Cuisine (vegan options available) and then I would definitely enjoy the downtown local vibes. Enjoying music , art and other creative activities that Columbia has to offer .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Starting a business can be fulfilling but it comes at a cost sometimes and one of those cost is going at it alone with only you and the spirit. I want to thank God who is my higher power for giving me the vision and the ability to do what makes me happy as a career. I want to thank my family, for their support and encouragement. Through this journey, individuals (all walks of life) have been placed in my life to give humble advice, during the times where I needed it but was not looking for it. I’m a firm believer that anyone can be sent to your life to be a testament and give guidance for the things you need answered.
