We had the good fortune of connecting with Malaiye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malaiye, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking and I have an interesting relationship. I personally like to think of it as Faith. Whenever I’ve taken a step into the unknown, I’ve always come out on top, God Willing. Whether that’s closing a door to environments, relationships, the past. I usually feel guided towards taking that step out on Faith. No matter what the journey looks like, it’ll always make sense in the end. I always come out stronger, and more prepared for whatever’s next. Whenever I get to the point of executing a “risk”, I pray about it, and let God lead me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m very proud of stepping into a place where I don’t explain why I exist or why I’m an artist.

When people view my art, I want them to experience not only me, but I want them to experience themselves through me. I’m most proud of my ability to get into any room I desire, and still be able to cater to my discernment, knowing if a space is a good fit for me. I’ve learned that sometimes you have to get what you want to realize it’s not what you need. I’m very proud of my ability to release, and surrender. When you love what you do, the work may not always be easy, but it also never lacks fulfillment.
Which is why I created my Production Company, 10Ev. So I can provide a space where artists can come and have their vision executed through a lens that is accustomed to them. A lens that sees them the way they see themselves. I typically work with up and coming companies and talent, I’m a “network across” type of girl. I provide services in all areas of production, from Pre to Post, and I’m blessed to have such talented people on my team and in my network to help clients achieve their vision.

I want the world to know that I’m very excited for them to get to know me in this lifetime, and I hope my work and influence will serve as needed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I just had my first experience in Atlanta and I would say some dope places I got to check out my time there is Bar/Dance Club vibe called Rock Steady, and some restaurants I really enjoyed going to a lot out there were Brassica, and 5Church.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my sisters. I just love them so much. Their support, their nourishment, their love, I couldn’t do this life without them. They truly want the best for me, and I can’t wait to give them the world.
