We had the good fortune of connecting with Majer Change and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Majer, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
To stay tenacious and keep God first, everything else will fall into place.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well my story is different. I started doing music as a rapper after leaving a full scholarship playing football at SC State University in 2002. By 2004 I made a song with a friend Lil Coe called “Body Rock” featuring Grammy winning artist Killer Mike in 2005. I was able to tour with Big Boi of OutKast and the song was featured on Purple Ribbons album in 2006. Things didn’t work after label issues so I then went independent. I continued to do music over the years but becoming a single black father, I began to make a change and decided not to make anymore negative music and made a promise to myself to only do positive motivational music. I grew up attending Salem Bible Church in Atlanta,Ga and continued to attend church even while in the streets. As I continued to grow closer to God, I found an annoiting and it’s was doing music exalting God. A long time friend and producer Quentin Sims sent me beats and I began my new path of making spiritual awakening music . I went from the stage name Donkeeboy Quay to Majer Change. That’s my testimony, I want to let these young guys know it’s alright to make a change and to get a relationship with God. Humbling myself to God has been one of the best things I have done in my life and want others to know that life is so peaceful when we give it to God.. Growing up my favorite gospel song was by Dottie Peoples, “On Time God” do i decided to do a remake it’s on all platforms. On Time God by Majer Change
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First I would go to RC’s Soulfood in Marietta it’s the best soulfood in the city hands down! I would also go to Mr. Everything in Atlanta where you can dine and have a drink while watching a game.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Quentin Sims, help me recreate myself into the artist I am today. He was one of the first producers I ever did music with over 20 years ago, and now that I’m doing Spiritual Awakening music he is my producer.
