We had the good fortune of connecting with Mahmuda Zaman Afra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mahmuda Zaman, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
I think the most important thing I learnt over the years is that consistency is the key. No matter the type of work, you have to be consistent with putting in effort and patiently wait for results. Nothing happens overnight. I just followed my passion without worrying about numbers all the time and started seeing results gradually.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

I started ‘glamzoned’ during lockdown last year, with the thought of utilizing the makeup I had at home since we were not able to go outside. I thought of putting my creativity to practice and showcase my work publicly. Starting the journey was not that difficult as I was able to dedicate most of my time to creating makeup looks but it certainly got tougher with time, since I joined a full time job. I am trying my best to balance work, family, home and content creation which is my passion.

I try to create looks which are simple and glam, using neutral/warm colors and also looks which are creative and bold, using colorful shades. I want to make my account a one stop hub for all kinds of makeup lovers from all over the world. The best thing about being a content creator is that I get to inspire people to enhance their creativity and skills. It makes me really happy to see someone creating content inspired by me.
Finally, I would like to say that it is never too late to start something that you are passionate about. If you are reading this and have something you have been wanting to pursue, start today!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Places to visit: World of Coca Cola, the Georgia Aquarium and Atlanta Botanical Garden

Places to hangout: Stone Mountain Park, Skyview Atlanta

Places to eat: Slutty Vegan ATL, Frankie’s The Steakhouse, Kimball House

Places to drink: Good Word Brewing & Public House, The Vortex Bar & Grill, Wrecking Bar Brewpub

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Firstly, I would like to mention the person who supports me unconditionally in everything I do and starting content creation was no different. He is my husband, who also happens to be my best friend. Additionally, my family and friends were also really encouraging. Last but not the least, the people from all over the world who always show love and appreciation for my content. They inspire me to do better every time and I am really grateful for all of them.
