We had the good fortune of connecting with Mago Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mago, why did you pursue a creative career?
I was always that kid in school that would be drawing on assignments/tests rather than actually doing school work. I realized my drawings were actually pretty dope and just ran with it, got better at drawing and eventually started tattooing.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would say what sets me apart from others is I use little to no lining in my tattoos. I use the mag on the skin as if were a paintbrush on the skin. Honestly I stayed super dedicated, I put in the necessary work and then some to get to where I’m at and I feel like I have to go beyond that. One of the lessons I’ve learned along the way is, patience. I want the world to know I’m the humblest asshole with an artistic skill you’ll ever meet.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Iron Age, the Korean bbq there is bomb! Definitely have to visit the GA aquarium. I would also take them to see some hidden waterfalls and trails. A city in a forest is a must too.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my wife, Victoria Martinez for being my back bone through all of this. She’s always had my back and she’s a dope piercer
