We had the good fortune of connecting with Maddie Eye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maddie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had the desire to own my own business. I’ve been driven, self-motivated, and independent from a young age. In March 2024, I started doing UGC as a side gig, and my ultimate goal was always to transition into freelance video creation full-time and turn it into a business. That’s exactly what I’m doing now, and I’m thrilled to officially launch in January 2025. I’m looking forward to expanding and growing it throughout the year and beyond.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, Eye Story Co., is a visual storytelling company dedicated to capturing the heart of every story through authentic, creative videos. We specialize in creating social media content for brands, local businesses, and occasionally for wedding couples and vendors. What sets us apart is our commitment to telling real, meaningful stories—whether it’s the story behind a local business, the essence of a brand’s aesthetic, or the love between a couple. We focus on making these moments come to life in the most genuine and impactful way.

One of my college professors once told me that to truly understand and empathize with someone, you must first learn their story. That idea has always stuck with me, and it’s shaped the core of what Eye Story Co. is all about. Everything I’ve ever been passionate about—whether it was acting, designing, or content creation—has always stemmed from my ability to tell a story through that medium. And now, through video, I get to do that every day, helping others share their stories in the most authentic way possible.

What excites me most about Eye Story Co. is how storytelling fosters connection. We go beyond just content creation; we craft compelling narratives that elevate brands and celebrate love. What’s unique is that we do it all with an iPhone, keeping things personal, creative, and accessible while capturing the true essence of each story.

The journey hasn’t been easy, though. Transitioning from a corporate job to running my own business was full of challenges, but my passion for storytelling kept me going. I learned that persistence, adaptability, and building strong relationships with clients are essential to overcoming obstacles. Each challenge has been an opportunity for growth and has helped refine my craft.

What I want the world to know about Eye Story Co. is that we’re not just a video production company—we are a brand that believes in the power of authentic storytelling to connect people, build relationships, and create memorable experiences. Our goal is to inspire and bring out the best in every story we tell.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m literally obsessed with Atlanta. There is so much to do, one week is not enough. But here’s my itinerary:

Day 1- Sunday
We’d go to a Drag Brunch at Lips Atlanta hosted by one of my favorite Atlanta Drag Queens, Brigitte Bidet. After day drinking, we’d need some good Southern comfort food to soak up the alcohol. We’d go to either Paschal’s or Mary Mac’s.

Day 2- Monday
We’d grab the best pour over coffee at Spiller Park on Mitchell Street. Then we’d head to Virginia Highlands and go book shopping at VaHi Books. For lunch, we’d go to Tuscany at Your Table to have the best Italian paninis for lunch. And then we’d grab pasta and wine to bring home to make for dinner that night.

Day 3- Tuesday
We’d start at PERC Coffee in Grant Park for a seasonal coffee and their crunchwrap. Then I would take them for a leisurely stroll on the beltline, and afterwards, we’d grab a spicy mezcal margarita from Minero in Ponce City Market. For dinner, I would take them to Whiskey Bird and would force them to try their Ahi Tuna Gyoza Tacos.

Day 4- Wednesday
We’d grab coffee at Chrome Yellow. We would go to Fonaines for lunch for the best fresh oysters. In the evening, we’d go to drag night at MSR and hopefully run into two more of my favorite Atlanta Drag Queens, Drew Friday and Tuna Fiasco.

Day 5- Thursday
Coffee and plant shopping at Plants + Coffee in the East Atlanta Village. In the afternoon, we’d head over to Perimeter Center to grab the best soup dumplings and to-go cocktails from Hawkers and play lawn games. Around 10 PM, we’d head to The Heretic for line dancing.

Day 6- Friday
We’d pick up the best espresso colas from Radio Roasters Coffee on the way to a farm in North Georgia for a seasonal activity. If it was the fall, we’d go to Washington Farms to go to their pumpkin patch or to R&A Orchards to go apple picking. If it was the Spring, we’d go to Jaemor Farms to go strawberry picking. Then we’d head back to Atlanta because this night we’re going to MJQ.

Day 7- Saturday
If it was March-October, we’d head to the Peachtree Farmer’s Market to grab some coffee, fresh produce from Heirloom Gardens and eggs from Smyly Farms. For my friend’s last night, I would take them to my favorite Atlanta club, Tongue and Groove.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m incredibly grateful for the amazing community of friends and family who have supported me throughout this journey. Every single person has helped in some way. However, I want to give a special thanks to my friend Jam for introducing me to UGC, encouraging me to leave my corporate job, and being an invaluable mentor. I also want to especially thank my partner, Addison, for helping me film when needed, sacrificing time together so I could focus on work, and for always being my biggest cheerleader.
