We had the good fortune of connecting with Lutfy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lutfy, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is from the movie “Field of Dreams”. It simply says “If you build it, they will come”. I’ve heard this saying in different shows and movies so much over the years. It was often made to be something said in a spoof, so its true meaning never quite settled in my mind to make sense or have a strong purpose. As I began to build my business that quote resonated with me and its meaning finally landed in my soul and in my business model. I promised myself that I would build a business that would not just garner attention, but one that would bring forth fruitful opportunities and that’s exactly what happened! I built it, and the opportunities came rolling in. So I say to anybody who has an idea or a dream, that as long as it lives in your head, it will always remain as just an idea or a dream, but if you take the necessary steps to bring it to life (the building it phase), making it a physical/visual/tangible thing, then the world will be drawn to it and in its own unique way, it will be successful. Whatever it may be! Any and everything is possible, so just remember to always doubt your doubts and even more so, believe your beliefs! Now go build it so it will come!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My style of art truly is life. It is said that art imitates life right? and that’s exactly how I live it. The things that matter to me, my heart, my health, are all the things that I pour out to my audience. Mental health is extremely important in our brown and yellow communities and yet we hardly ever speak about it. The access to those resources are sometimes limited for us to promptly and affordably get the help that we need, the help we deserve! When it comes to our health, as it pertains to the LGBT community, a lot of us are still uneducated and/or have been miseducated about healthy sexual practices and the various options available to help further protect ourselves against HIV and STDs/STIs. When it comes to self love, some of us are still living in the dark, and aren’t aware of who we are or who we could be. When it comes to relationships, some of us are still wounded by familial traumas and other unsettling issues that have lingered on into our adult years.

As I begin my business and as I continue it, it is so super important for me to be a light in all of these areas. It has not been easy building a business around these topics as even in today’s time they can still be a bit taboo. But I pushed forward with my heart on my sleeve and with full transparency about my life and all of my vulnerabilities. I give myself to those who follow me in hopes that my life, my experiences, my journey will resonate with someone and perhaps change their life and the lives of those they’re connected to.

As I’ve been self-employed for the last two years, I’ve learned that being your most authentic self is the only way to run your business. Staying true to the things that matter to the core of who you are and representing those things truthfully. We all want to feel connected, and most certainly so in relation to something that we’re investing our money and/or time in. So if you have a business, make sure it’s something that’s coming from your soul and let it grow from there.

I want the world to know that none of us are alone. That we are more alike than we choose to acknowledge. I also want us to understand that we are powerless without each other. My hope is that we will one day unite as a people, not just as brown and yellow folk, not just as the LGBT community, not just as Americans, but as an entire human race.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The biggest shout out I wanna give is to myself. The reason? because success starts with self belief. All of the troubles, the traumas, and tribulations were all of the lessons needed to learn the things that has helped make us who we are today. For me, I’ve accepted those moments in life and what I’ve turned I’ve turned into my super powers!!

I want to give a shout out to God for keeping me in my faith and keeping me focused. For loving me, protecting me, blessing me and providing peace in the most chaotic of storms.

Lastly, I wanna shout out all of my friends, my family and all of the followers who’ve made building this business a reality.
