We had the good fortune of connecting with Lul Zae and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lul, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk Taking had played a huge toll in who I am today. Without me taking some of the risks I did take I wouldn’t live the same lifestyle, have what I have or anything like that.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a new independent artist. I can’t even describe the kind of music I make. i can’t really say I’m in a category. I know fasho Ima shocc the world. When I drop what I got in this vault on my momma. I ain’t even gonna lie this shit ain’t easy at all especially when damn near everybody in yo city hating on the next man. This shit be crazy as hell man For real. This music shit taught me a lot though. This shit gave me a work ethic like no other. I swear if I could live in the studio I would but at the same time alot of the shit I’m talking abt going on in my day to day life. All I can say is If You Know You Know. I done been damn near every pair of shoes u can think of, like I done been down on my dicc I done been the most having nicca in the room. It’s all about how you persevere in every situation no matter if it’s good or bad. I could write a book about my life already and I was born in 02 like it’s so much I seen, done, and experienced good and bad.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Say My bestfriend didn’t live in the dmv and she came to town to visit the DMV. First place we sliding to gotta be to get something to eat. Not just any plac tho, we gotta go to the irie Caribbean best Jamaican spot around. Right in the featherstone plaza off of Richmond highway. Of course we going to the studio aint no other option. We can do a little sight seeing in D.C. check out a few museums and art galleries. Hit U street after We go eat on the waterfront you know ah whole bunch of fly shit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
